Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the FoodBuddy website (foodbuddy.tech) and the FoodBuddy Android app, operated by insight 42 UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Barellistraße 6, 85049 Ingolstadt, Germany (“we”, “us”).
1. What FoodBuddy is — and is not
FoodBuddy is an educational tool for exploring food ingredients. It reads or looks up ingredient lists and compares them with interest areas you select, so you can explore what is in a product.
No medical advice. FoodBuddy does not determine whether any food is safe for you or any other person. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition, and it is not a substitute for advice from qualified medical professionals. Product, ingredient, and database information may be incomplete, incorrect, outdated, or differ from the actual product in your hand. Always read the physical product label and the manufacturer’s information. If you have allergies, intolerances, or a medical condition, consult qualified medical professionals — do not rely on FoodBuddy for safety decisions.
2. License and accounts
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for private, non-commercial purposes on devices you control. Where the app offers an account, keep your credentials confidential; you are responsible for activity under your account. You may not reverse engineer the app except where the law permits, misuse the services, scrape the site, or use the databases outside the app.
3. Free tier, FoodBuddy Plus, and purchases
The free tier includes limited scans per day and basic exploration. FoodBuddy Plus is a paid subscription with expanded functionality as described on our pricing section at the time of purchase.
In-app purchases are made through Google Play; Google’s terms and billing flows apply alongside these terms.
Web purchases, once available, are handled by Paddle as Merchant of Record (Paddle.com Market Ltd.). Paddle is the seller of record for those transactions: Paddle’s checkout terms apply to the purchase itself, Paddle issues the invoice and handles VAT/sales tax, and billing questions for web purchases go to Paddle or to us. Our Refund & Withdrawal policy applies.
Subscriptions renew automatically for the chosen period (monthly or yearly) until cancelled. You can cancel at any time with effect for the next renewal — in Google Play for in-app purchases, or via the Paddle receipt/customer portal for web purchases. Prices are shown before purchase; we may change prices for future renewal periods with prior notice.
4. Availability and changes
We provide the app and site with reasonable skill and care but do not promise uninterrupted availability. We may update, improve, or discontinue features; if a change materially reduces a paid feature set during a paid period, you may terminate for cause with effect from the change.
5. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence, we are liable only for breach of essential contractual duties (duties whose fulfilment makes proper performance of the contract possible at all and on which you may regularly rely), limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Any further liability is excluded. This does not shift the burden of proof to your disadvantage and does not limit mandatory statutory consumer rights.
6. Governing law and final provisions
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of habitual residence remain unaffected. Should individual provisions of these terms be invalid, the remainder stays in effect. Information on dispute resolution is in our Impressum.
